Guard Jobs in Austin

Applicants must be able to work in the U.S. legally, able to pass drug tests, criminal background checks, an FBI national fingerprint check, have valid Texas identification, Social Security card, and must be able to be licensed by the State of Texas (DPS-RSD), to include undergo a mental evaluation. You must have at least three years of verifiable work history here in the United States. You musty be able to read, write, and speak English very well. Unlike our competition we won’t place someone at our client’s property with an out of county background that we cannot verify through normal background efforts.

You must have a valid driver’s license, working phone, reliable transportation – not the bus or a bicycle; and you must be able to work weekends, holidays, and night shifts if requested to do so, especially as a new hire. No dishonorable military discharges. No felony convictions are accepted at this company regardless of how many years ago it was and regardless if DPS provided you with a  security license already. Special Response Security Services does not condone hiring previously employed law enforcement officers that have been forced to resign from their department or separated for any other negative cause.

To increase the standards in the industry, they must begin with the applicants we all hire.

With the old DPS-RSD Level 2 testing and training process, being what it was prior to 2010 (online and at home), and the new Level-2 course not much better ( and given in a couple of hours), we consider this very little to no official training; as such, our company’s minimum requirement is that you must have proof of completion of a Level-3 (40 hour course), or completed such class within 30 days -whether you intend on becoming armed or not. We want to ensure you have received more than the tiny drop of training provided in a Level-2 class before considering you “fully trained” – unlike our competition.

Your first impression starts with your application, please keep that in mind.

Security Officer Employment at Special Response Security Services

We have developed an online application for your convenience; follow the link, download it, print it out, fill it out and mail it in once complete (don’t leave any sections blanks). We request that you follow the above procedure as we highly discourage phone calls,  “pop visits,” unscheduled appointments, or forced encounters at anytime. We will not accept faxed, emailed, or hand-delivered applications. Our procedures are a weeding out process in itself and meant to discourage the non-professionals, non-committed, or ones that may find a few hiring steps too troublesome.

DPS-RSD statement: Please be advised under the Private Security Act (Occ. Code Chapter 1702) and Administrative Rule 35.4 (37 Tex. Admin. Code 1), a criminal conviction may disqualify you from a registration, commission or license under the Act. You may wish to review Rule 35.4’s list of disqualifying offenses and the related periods of ineligibility, available on the department’s website at https://www.dps.texas.gov/rsd/psb/index.htm (follow the link to Administrative Code).  You also have a right to request from the department a criminal history evaluation letter under Occupations Code Section 53.102
